TV Guide: The final season of Wentworth on Fox Showcase

• Wentworth The Final Sentence premieres Tuesday, August 24

The final ten episodes of Foxtel’s Australian prison drama Wentworth premieres tonight at 8.30pm on Fox Showcase.

When the gates of Wentworth Correctional Centre open on the final season, three weeks have passed since the shivving of Allie (Kate Jenkinson).  With Allie’s attacker still at large, no one, least of all the H1 family, realise that they have a terrorist and would-be murderer, Judy Bryant (Vivienne Awosoga), in their midst.

Will Allie survive the brutal shower block attack?  Having regained her memory, will the Freak come clean or still maintain her Kath Maxwell charade? What does the future hold for Lou and Reb now that he knows Lou’s part in his abuse at the True Path retreat? Is Marie playing with fire getting close to Reb? Will Sheila discover who really poisoned everyone at True Path retreat? Will Ruby and Rita reunite?  All of these questions and more will be answered in the closing chapter.

The final season has received rave reviews, with TV Week declaring “Wentworth is going out with a bang. The final 10 episodes just might be the most explosive in the show’s history.”  News Corp Australia promised “The final season will have you glued to your seat” while the Sunday Times heralded it “A cracking start to what promises to be a satisfying season.”

Wentworth is a Fremantle production for Foxtel with former Fremantle director of scripted, Jo Porter and Foxtel’s senior drama consultant, Penny Win as executive producers.
