Top Gun: Maverick has amassed 1.5 million admissions across Australia in its first 11 days and delivered $557 million at the global box office.

The film hit cinemas globally on May 26, 36 years on from its first release and has been put on course to be Tom Cruise’s highest-grossing film of all time.

In its first week on screens, the film brought in $13.8 million to the Australian box office, averaging a massive $15,236 across 905 screens.

With critics on Rotten Tomatoes giving the film a Freshness Score of 97%, Top Gun: Maverick is on its way to becoming the best performing film so far in 2022, and since Spiderman: No Way Home which was released in December last year.

Guy Burbidge, managing director of Val Morgan Cinema, commented on the film’s success since its release, “As one of 2022’s most anticipated releases, it’s no surprise to see Aussie admissions smash 1.5 million in under 2 weeks. This film will unquestionably be
one of the biggest moments in cinema this year and truly represents what the cinema experience is all about. With the film’s second-weekend admissions only seeing a 4% drop in comparison to its opening weekend result, Top Gun: Maverick audiences are set to
break records.”

Upcoming blockbuster releases will continue to excite Aussie audiences. The epic conclusion of the Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World: Dominion hits cinemas today, the fourth film movie in the Thor saga, Thor: Love and Thunder releases in 3 weeks, and
the follow up to the 2018 release, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever releases in November.

The highly anticipated Avatar: The Way of Water is also set to blow box office and audience results out of the water when it hits the big screen on December 15.
