The State We're In

• The one-hour special investigates how Australia’s state borders were drawn up

Fox Docos will premiere the new documentary The State We’re In: Australia’s Border Story, hosted by Australian journalist, Ray Martin, on Sunday, July 31 at 8:30pm.

The one-hour special investigates how Australia’s state borders were drawn up and the impact those decisions had on land, people, and culture.

With more than 50 years’ experience reporting from the road with Australia’s leading news and current affairs programs, Martin has an undeniable passion for Australian history and culture and travelling.

Following state borders being shut during the pandemic, Martin was thrilled to get back on the road meeting people from all walks of life and discovering fascinating – and often untold – stories in far-flung corners of the country.

With every border on the Australian map telling a story both past and present, the new documentary sees Martin explore from coast to coast covering every line on the map from the Kimberley in the Northern Territory to Coober Pedy in South Australia and all the way to the Western Australian border.

The State We’re In: Australia’s Border Story is produced by Sky News Australia for Foxtel.

Fox Docos launched on September 1 and is available to Foxtel customers through linear programming and On Demand. It is also home to a number of Foxtel Original documentaries including Walking With Grace, following Australian of the Year Grace Tame as she leads a bush walk of self-empowerment, discovery and healing.

It also showcases the best of sports documentary storytelling featuring Swell Chasers, a surfing odyssey from award-winning Australian director Tim BonythonLauda, the definitive story of the great Niki Lauda, three-time F1 World Drivers’ Champion; and Tiger – the look at the rise, fall and epic comeback of global icon, Tiger Woods.
