The Marketing Academy Australia is a non-profit organisation that was launched in 2015.

The organisation aims to develop leadership capability in talent across marketing, advertising and communication industries through mentoring, coaching and intensive learning.

Over 180 Scholars have completed The Scholarship Program. The industry education program is free of charge but highly selective of applicants.

The Scholarship Program is a 15-day learning program delivered over nine months for only 30 carefully selected delegates across the marketing, media and advertising industries.

The development program boasts money-can’t-buy experiences and best-in-class content and has been designed to include a powerful combination of mentoring, coaching and lectures delivered by some of the top CEOs, CMOs and business leaders from Australia and the rest of the world.

The program features four core modules that empower their scholars to be the best. This includes: 

Personal Development: Be an extraordinary human

People Development: Be an inspirational leader

Professional Development: Be an exceptional marketer

Purpose: Be a change maker

The Scholarship program also offers one to one mentoring for each scholar with up to eight of Australia’s most experienced and inspirational marketing leaders for their team of over 40 CEOs, CMOs and directors in the industry.

Scholars will also have executive coaching with nine months of input from one of their 30 professional executive coaches. Coaching will give scholars a critical sounding board to their thinking and development.

It also features three immersive boot camps throughout the year that allow scholars to share their learnings, insight and experiences. Scholars also undergo an intense leadership development program in addition to a full induction, inspirational speakers, workshops and learning sessions.

Scholars also get access to the global virtual campus which is a supplementary online development program of workshops, lectures and keynote sessions. The sessions are attended by The Marketing Academy’s Alumni, Mentors, Coaches, Partners and their teams around the US and UK.

While nominations the 2022 program have closed, The Marketing Academy has a guide for their criteria they look for in candidates, which includes: 

Between 10 and 20 years in a marketing or agency role (or those who have demonstrated potential as natural marketers or shown outstanding entrepreneurial ability or exceptional achievement in the face of adversity)

Currently in a leadership role

Highly ambitious to further career in marketing leadership, aspiring to board roles

Demonstrates commitment to career with evidence of results and achievements

Evidence of commitment to broadening horizons, such as world travel or further education

High emotional intelligence & natural drive to succeed

Interests in charitable, social, cultural, creative or sporting endeavours

Employed on a permanent (not freelance) basis in Australia or New Zealand with no risk of resignation for the duration of the program

Nominations are welcomed and applications are by invitation. From there invitees go through a three stage process, the first part includes a CV, employer’s endorsement, two-minute showcase video. The second stage of the process is a pitch, followed by a Q and A. 

Rounding out the three stages, applicants are invited to a face-to-face interview with a selection panel of marketing and HR professionals.

The Marketing Academy has an alumni program, launched back in 2017, to ensure all former Scholars can continue accessing the inspirational learning and speakers, and to benefit from one of the strongest network the network they have with each other.

Another program by The Marketing Academy is The Fellowship Program, established back in 2015 and so far more than 140 Fellows have graduated. Graduates are invited to join The Fellowship Alumni Program which is designed to facilitate the exclusive and growing network by sharing best practice and helping Fellows learn and develop.
