Mediaweek has been asking the industry to take a trip down memory lane, to find out all about the ads that made us.

Make Those Bodies Sing – Australian Bananas

“Talk about a catchy jingle! You’d be lucky to watch this ad and not have the tune stuck in your head for the rest of the day.

“This iconic Australian commercial’s use of vibrant visuals and energetic individuals captured the attention of audiences young and old to promote the humble banana through healthy living. However, the unforgettable ‘Ba-na-na-na’ soundtrack that accompanies it is really what cemented the ad into the minds and hearts of Aussies everywhere.

“Originally aired in 1994, it has had a few revivals with the latest in 2018 keeping the much-loved song but giving it a fresh face.

“My fond memory of this ad is having a sing-a-long with my sister every time it appeared on the television, definitely prompting a ‘Mummmmm, can I have a banana?’ at the end.”

Cottee’s Cordial

“All you need to do is hum a few bars of this classic earworm and you’ll be transported to a world of sickly sweet goodness that is Cottee’s Cordial.

“The jingle as we knew it is now a thing of the past, but this was an iconic piece of audio branding for Cottee’s and a tune that will stay with me for a long time to come!

“Although my palette has somewhat evolved since my childhood, it wasn’t a party until mum cracked open the Coola Lime.”
