Ticketek Entertainment Group (TEG) has announced the acquisition of New Zealand-founded ticketing and events discovery platform Eventfinda, in a move designed to strengthen its capabilities across the small-to-mid tier events market.
TEG, which owns Ticketek and operates as one of Australasia’s leading live entertainment businesses, said the acquisition adds “fit-for-purpose ticketing functionality” to its portfolio, particularly for smaller venues and organisers seeking agile, self-service solutions.
“We are thrilled to welcome James and his team into the TEG family, and we’re excited by the prospect of supporting Eventfinda’s growth, not just in New Zealand but also into new markets globally,” said Cameron Hoy, Chief Operating Officer and Head of Global Ticketing, Ticketek Entertainment Group.
“Having both of these trusted and successful brands under one roof will allow us to service an important segment of the live event sector with an agile, self-service ticketing platform that offers venues and event organisers the flexibility and white-label functionality they require.”
Founded in 2006 by James McGlinn, who remains CEO, Eventfinda started as an online events calendar and evolved into a self-service ticketing platform. Its technology has supported thousands of events across New Zealand, offering reliable, user-friendly tools for promoters and venues.
McGlinn said the acquisition was an opportunity for growth while maintaining continuity for existing clients: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Eventfinda to expand globally while still delivering the high level of service and functionality it has become known for through our homegrown technology platform.”
He added that Eventfinda would continue to operate under its own brand, with no changes to its team or client relationships. “It’s business as usual – but with the added support of TEG,” McGlinn said.
The acquisition remains subject to customary conditions, including engagement with the New Zealand Commerce Commission.
TEG operates globally across ticketing, live content, data and digital services, while Eventfinda combines events discovery with a ticketing system that includes nonprofit options and distribution through local councils and tourism channels.
