Suzuki swaps flowers for fuel in Mother’s Day Swift Hybrid campaign

The campaign leans into the idea of “the gift of extra fuel” for a car with strong mileage, aimed at “the mums that go the extra mile.”

Suzuki Automotive has launched a Mother’s Day campaign with creative agency ATime&Place, positioning the Suzuki Swift Hybrid as a gift that lasts longer than flowers and chocolates.

The tactical promotion is designed to drive Australians into dealerships, where they can receive Mother’s Day Card Coupons entitling the bearer to a bonus $500 fuel voucher with the purchase of a new Suzuki Swift Hybrid.

A dealership-led Mother’s Day push

The campaign is running across social, online, radio and in-store until Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 10.

Mother’s Day Card Coupons are available at participating Suzuki dealerships nationwide.

Daniel Sammut on the campaign

Daniel Sammut, National Marketing Manager, Suzuki Automotive, said the campaign was designed around value during tougher economic conditions.

“In these tough economic times we don’t want people wasting their precious money on things that don’t last, like flowers.

“That’s why we’ve created this promotion to sweeten the deal on a reliable, financially viable, and very buyable Suzuki Swift Hybrid.

“Just pop into your local Suzuki dealer, pick up a card, and then a car, and take mum on a nice driving date while you’re at it.”

ATime&Place on the idea

Matt Lawson, Chief Creative Officer and Co-founder, ATime&Place, said the campaign uses Mother’s Day sentiment to put attention on the Swift Hybrid.

“Some people may say we are simply exploiting the endless love children have for their mothers to make noise about a car that lasts forever.

“All at a time when the economics of buying a hybrid makes so much sense, especially when you factor in a $500 bonus fuel voucher for mums.

“And those people would be right.”
