Stan has confirmed the premiere date for its next Revealed documentary. Revealed – Death Cap Murders, the first in a three-part series, will debut on September 14.
The documentary investigates the events surrounding a family lunch in Leongatha, Victoria, where four guests fell critically ill and the host, Erin Patterson, became the subject of global media scrutiny.
While the case has dominated headlines, Revealed – Death Cap Murders aims to present perspectives that have not yet been part of the public discussion. The production explores the lasting effects of the tragedy, the impact of media coverage, and the unresolved questions around motive.
Voices shaping the series
The series is fronted by The Age journalists John Silvester and Marta Pascual Juanola. It also features contributions from doctors, psychologists, mushroom poisoning specialists, local residents, and people who knew Patterson personally, including former colleagues, classmates and flatmates.
Emmy-award winning director Gil Marsden said the community impact was central to the story: “From my first day in Korumburra and Leongatha, the community’s grief was profound. While the tragedy and trial drew global attention, our goal was to create a respectful, honest portrait of this surreal experience.
“It was both a challenge and a privilege to tell such a complex story – piece by piece, heartbreak by heartbreak. We remember and honour the victims, and thank everyone who contributed to telling this story.”
The series is produced by Dreamchaser, Den of Martians and FIFTH SEASON, with production investment from Screen Australia and VicScreen. FIFTH SEASON is managing global distribution. Stan executive producers are Alicia Brown and Cailah Scobie.
