Optus Sport will host a dedicated FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 Snapchat show

Snap has announced a content partnership with Optus Sport to host made-for-mobile, daily content celebrating women’s football and the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 for Australian audiences on Snapchat.

As interest around women’s football continues to grow with the largest FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 set to captivate audiences worldwide, Optus Sport will become the home of the tournament on Snapchat, allowing Aussie Snapchatters to watch, share and chat about the tournament.

Optus Sport will host a dedicated FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 Snapchat show for the platform’s Australian community, to cover the highlights, share news, and discuss all the key moments from the tournament. This will complement Optus Sport’s existing Optus Sport Daily show that football fan Snapchatters will already be familiar with.

Kanishk Khanna, director of media partnerships, APAC, at Snap, said: “Last year over 60 million Snapchatters watched Men’s World Cup Stories content on Snapchat. So we are excited to expand our women’s football partnership with Optus Sport to bring more iconic football and sports content to Snapchatters locally. Snapchat offers fans around the world new ways to experience and celebrate football – whether that’s watching match highlights or outfitting their bitmoji in their favourite team’s kit.

“Hosting this event is a pivotal moment not only for women’s sport in Australia but the country as a whole. Through this extension of our existing sports content partnership with Optus Sport, we’ll be bringing more of what our Aussie audience wants, getting them even closer to the action as we countdown to an unmissable month of sport right here in Australia with FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.”

Howard Rees, head of Optus Sport said: “At Optus Sport, we understand the gravity of Australia co-hosting the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 and the everlasting impact it will have on generations to come. By partnering with Snapchat, we are ensuring Gen Z Aussies can be a part of the action and witness the incredible talent and passion this tournament will bring.

“Together, with our team of Optus Sport football experts and extensive premium coverage, we are excited to be partnering with Snap to deliver mobile-made, snackable content that fans can easily share with friends to chat about the biggest moments of the biggest sporting event the country is yet to see.”

The Stories page on Snapchat features content from friends, creators, and trusted news and entertainment from media partners. This partnered content reaches a global audience with sport highlights from major broadcasters, digital publishers, leagues, teams and players, with over 200 million people watching sports content on Snapchat in 2021.

Snap reaches an audience of over 7.5 million Australians, including more than 90% of 13-24 year olds across the country. The new shows will begin from Monday 17 July on Snapchat and can be accessed by searching Optus Sport on Snapchat.
