Reddit enters the AI-powered advertising race with Max Campaigns

The launch comes as Reddit continues to scale its advertising business.

Reddit has launched Max Campaigns, a new AI-powered automated ad format now available in beta, designed to help advertisers drive stronger performance while gaining deeper insight into who they are reaching on the platform.

In an announcement on its website, Max Campaigns will be enabled by Reddit Community Intelligence and AI models that predict the value of every ad impression.

The system automatically optimises targeting, creative selection and rotation, placements and budget allocation in real time, while still allowing advertisers to apply strategic controls.

Unlike some automated ad products that limit visibility, Reddit says Max Campaigns are designed to do the opposite by unlocking new creative and audience insights through AI.

The company has been alpha testing the format with more than 600 advertisers across industries and business sizes throughout 2025.

During testing, brands using Max Campaigns reported improved efficiency compared with business-as-usual campaigns.

In one example, sportswear brand Brooks Running used a Max campaign to promote the launch of its Ghost 17 running shoe, achieving a 37% decrease in cost per click and 27% more clicks over a 21-day campaign, without making manual optimisation changes.

Across broader split tests, early testers recorded an average 17% lower cost per acquisition and 27% higher conversion rates compared with their existing campaign setups.

Simpler setup and AI-assisted creative

In addition to performance gains, Max Campaigns are designed to reduce complexity for advertisers.

The format requires fewer steps to set up and manage, and includes optional AI tools to generate Reddit-ready creative assets.

These features include headline suggestions that draw on trending Reddit language and thumbnail generation that adapts existing images to Reddit’s conversation-based placements.

Reddit says an AI-powered video cropping tool, designed to make it easier to repurpose videos from other platforms, will be introduced soon.

Opening the black box with audience insights

A key differentiator of Max Campaigns is a new reporting feature called Top Audience Personas, available exclusively to Max advertisers.

Using AI, the tool clusters campaign audiences into relevant personas and shows advertisers which groups are engaging most with their ads, as well as what those personas are interested in at the time.

The insights combine campaign performance data with Reddit Community Intelligence, which analyses more than 23 billion posts and comments to generate structured audience signals.

Cozey performance marketing manager Alexandra Mota said the format has quickly become central to the brand’s acquisition strategy.

“Max campaigns quickly became one of our most efficient levers for acquiring new customers efficiently on the platform,” she said.

“We saw stronger ROAS and lower CPA without needing to constantly rebuild audiences or tweak optimisations.”

Reddit’s VP of ads product Jyoti Vaidee said the aim was to make advertising on Reddit simpler and more insightful, particularly for new advertisers.

“Max campaigns empower advertisers to launch high-performing ads in the right places on Reddit, while giving them insight into the audiences they’re reaching,” she said.

“We’re not just making ad management faster, we’re making it smarter and tailored to our community.”

The Max Campaigns beta is launching this week for traffic and conversion objectives with a select group of advertisers.

Reddit plans to expand access over the coming months, with Top Audience Personas reporting expected to roll out in the weeks ahead.
