Northern Pictures scores two nominations at the International Emmy Awards

Northern Pictures recently won three Emmys Awards for Love On The Spectrum U.S.

Northern Pictures has scored two nominations at the 2022 International Emmy Awards.

The Australian production company is being recognised in the kids: live action category for season two of the ABC ME series Hardball, made in association with the Australian Children’s Television Foundation.

Hardball is up against entries from Mexico, The Netherlands and Singapore.

Catherine Nebauer, head of kids and scripted at Northern Pictures and executive producer of Hardball, said: “Our incredible cast and crew at Northern Pictures are so proud of the Hardball series which consistently touches the lives of kids and families world-wide.

Northern Pictures has also been nominated for season two of the Australian Love on the Spectrum in the non-scripted entertainment category. The series is produced in association with ABC and Netflix Australia.

Love on the Spectrum is up against some tough competition and famous formats in the category such as La Voz Argentina (The Voice) season three, Top Chef Middle East season five and LOL: Last One Laughing Germany.

Karina Holden, head of factual at Northern Pictures and co-creator and executive producer of Love on the Spectrum, said: “It’s been a truly humbling month for the crew of Love on the Spectrum who have been acknowledged for the hard work and care they have invested into making this an unforgettably heart-warming series.

“Earlier this month, the US series was acknowledged in the Primetime Emmys and now the Australian series has been nominated in the International Emmys.

Northern Pictures is representing Australia at the awards show as the only Australian production company with nominations.

The 2022 International Emmy Awards nominees were announced on Thursday by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. There are 60 nominees across 15 categories and spanning 23 countries.

Bruce Paisner, International Academy president and CEO, said: “When you look at the geographic spread, diversity and quality of our Nominees, it becomes obvious that great television knows no borders and is emerging around the world.”

“We look forward to recognizing these outstanding programs and performances on our global stage with the International Emmy.”

Winners will be announced at the 50th International Emmy Awards Gala in New York City, on Monday, November 21, 2022.

Earlier this month, Northern Pictures took home three Emmys Awards for Love On The Spectrum U.S. at the 74th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, California.

The Australian production company behind the Netflix reality show won awards in Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program, Outstanding Picture Editing for Unstructured Reality Program and Outstanding Casting For A Reality Program.

In those categories, Northern Pictures was up against the likes of Below Deck Mediterranean, RuPaul’s Drag Race Untucked, Selling Sunset, Cheer and Top Chef.
