Halloween is about to get a media makeover.
News Corp Australia and Tubi are teaming up with Nova Entertainment and the Media Federation of Australia’s NGEN program to host a spooky night out for the industry’s rising stars.
The event takes place in Sydney on Tuesday 28 October and aims to mix costumes, cocktails and content, with drag icon Trinity the Tuck (of RuPaul’s Drag Race fame and star of Tubi Original horror film SLAY) sharing hosting duties with Nova’s Joel Creasey, co-host of Ricki-Lee, Tim & Joel.
The Halloween bash is more than a dress-up party – it doubles as a case study in how streaming platforms like Tubi are tapping into cultural moments.
The Fox-owned streamer boasts Australia’s largest free horror library, a genre that skews younger and lines up neatly with NGEN’s under-30 media crowd.
Jessica Gilby, News Australia General Manager Digital, said the partnership continues to deliver strong growth: “Our Tubi partnership has exceeded all expectations, with viewer hours soaring 50% since March. This Halloween event with global drag superstar Trinity the Tuck connecting with 350 of the industry’s brightest rising stars represents the next chapter in that growth journey.
“Entertainment should be accessible to all and the message ‘Why pay to scream when you can stream for free?’ captures exactly what Tubi offers for the next generation of Australian audiences,” she said.

Industry celebration with a commercial edge
The event is also designed as a platform for Nova, with ticket giveaways running across the network, including flights and accommodation for winners, plus coverage across its #1 Drive show’s socials.
Jack Charles from The Chrissie Swan Show is also on the guest list, reinforcing the network’s push to integrate on-air and event activations.
Melanie Aslanidis, Head of NGEN, said the Halloween event has become an important date on the industry calendar: “The NGEN Halloween celebration has become a cornerstone event for the industry’s emerging talent – a chance to come together, connect and celebrate their learning and development.
“This year, we’re beyond excited to partner with Tubi to take the event to the next level and make it truly unforgettable,” she said.

Trinity the Tuck
For Trinity the Tuck, the party is part of a wider Australian marketing swing that will also include interviews and editorial support from News Corp Australia, helping put horror (and free streaming) front and centre this spooky season.
