News Corp locks Nandor Locher as chief digital & technology officer

Locher will commence with News Australia from March 2026.

News Corp Australia has named Nandor Locher as its new Chief Digital and Technology Officer, following Julian Delany’s recent promotion to News Corp’s global Chief Technology Officer role in New York.

Locher will step into the position in March 2026, taking responsibility for leading the company’s technology, data and digital strategy across its Australian operations.

Driving News Corp Australia’s digital roadmap

In the new role, Locher will oversee three core areas: premium user experiences, data and content capability, and new digital solutions for clients.

His remit includes modernising core platforms, accelerating product development, integrating artificial intelligence into business processes and expanding personalisation across audience and commercial products.

Locher brings more than two decades of senior experience spanning financial services, loyalty, retail and aviation, with leadership roles at IAG, Woolworths, Qantas and Virgin Australia.

At IAG, he played a key role in modernising digital experiences and extending personalisation through advanced data infrastructure.

A customer-focused technology leader

News Corp Australasia Executive Chairman Michael Miller said Locher’s appointment aligns with the company’s next phase of digital evolution.

“We are delighted to welcome Nandor to News. His proven track record of delivering customer-focused digital transformation across major Australian companies makes him ideally suited to lead our technology agenda as we continue to innovate and evolve our platforms to serve our audience of more than 18 million Australians,” Miller said.

Locher said he looks forward to contributing to the company’s digital future.

“The intersection of technology and media represents one of the most dynamic spaces in Australian business today. I’m thrilled to join Australia’s leading media company and contribute to enhancing the digital experience for millions of users while driving innovation across the organisation.”
