• The #BuyBlak Friday campaign builds on the BuyBlak movement in Australia

Ahead of Black Friday, Meta has partnered with Trading Blak and 33 Creative to support the BuyBlak movement in Australia with #BuyBlak Friday. The campaign is a celebration of First Nations business excellence and aims to encourage Australians to shop with Indigenous-led businesses this holiday season and beyond.

During November, an on-platform campaign was activated across Facebook and Instagram featuring a variety of First Nations designed assets and creators including Bianca Hunt, Mitch Tambo, and Casey Donovan. The campaign will also include an above and below-the-line media push featuring several First Nations-owned businesses across Australia.

Meta partnered with Indigenous media and events agency, 33 Creative to work with an array of First Nations creators, partners, and artists to capture the incredible diversity of Indigenous culture. As part of this, Perth-based Menang artist Kiya Watt was commissioned to design the artwork that forms the base for all of the campaign creative, and over 24 First Nations creators were engaged to amplify the campaign with their audiences.

First Nations business collective, Trading Blak was also engaged to consult on the project and has been instrumental to its completion. This follows Trading Blak’s partnership with Meta earlier this year.

The #BuyBlak Friday campaign builds on the BuyBlak movement in Australia and aims to showcase Indigenous business excellence and remind people that when you support Indigenous-led businesses, you also support Indigenous communities and self-determination in action.

Jarin Baigent, Co-founder of Trading Blak said “When you buy 100% Blak you know that your whole purchase is going into a First Nations-led business that will directly positively impact a family and community.”

Mayrah Sonter, Co-founder and Co-Director 33 Creative said “First Nations businesses are a thriving part of our community. We are proud to work with Trading Blak and Meta on the #BuyBlak campaign to amplify the amazing products and services of Blak businesses. We encourage everyone to buy Blak for Christmas this year and to share with all your friends and family.”

Alexandra Sloane, Director of Marketing, Meta ANZ said “The First Nations creative and small business community has put in an enormous amount of work to build the BuyBlak movement in Australia, and it’s incredible to see so many of these businesses flourish across Facebook and Instagram.

“We know that the holiday season is vital for businesses everywhere and will spark a huge moment for people to shop for their families and friends. That’s why we wanted to partner with Trading Blak and 33 Creative, to support a movement that shows the very best of First Nations business excellence, and the impact on Indigenous communities when you #BuyBlak.”
