Melbourne Radio Ratings 2022, Survey 4: 3AW still #1 as GoldFM rules FM radio

The market leader has bounced back after a start to the year that saw it lose 1.9 points. Survey 4 has seen the Melbourne radio station gain back 1.0 points to extend its #1 share to 15.7%. The station still maintains a healthy lead of over three points on Gold 104.3.
Breakfast with Ross and Russ was down 0.3 as its market-leading share now sits at 19.1%. Mornings with Neil Mitchell was up 1.5 points, extending his market-leading share to 19.0%. The station continues to dominate 55-64 and 65+.

Gold continues to set the standard for FM radio in Melbourne, with a share of 12.0%. Its cume is now over 1.25m after gaining 58,000. Christian O’Connell is still the top FM breakfast show in the market after extending his market-winning share by 1.2 points. Gold is also still #1 in afternoons while it lost the top spot in drive to 3AW. The station also remains #1 in the 40-54 demographic.

smoothfm 91.5 9.2% (9.0%)

smoothfm has retained the market share it gained in Survey 3 (1.7 points) and added 0.2 to bring its share now to a strong 9.2% as the station continues to outrank its sister station, Nova. smooth’s best demographic is 55-64 while its best daypart is the afternoons. 

101.1 Fox FM 8.6% (8.8%)

Fox FM has lost 0.2 as it remains the #4 commercial station in the market. Fifi, Fev and Nick’s breakfast share was down 0.4. The station’s highest daypart was drive where the station had a 9.9% share thanks to Carrie and Tommy, with Carrie co-hosting from London. Fox remains #1 in 25-39 but lost 10-17 to Nova.

Nova has remained steady, only dropping 0.2 points. The breakfast show of  Chrissie, Sam and Browny has lost 0.8 points but still maintains most of its huge surge at the start of the year which saw it jump from 6.2% to 9.2% in the first two surveys. The drive slot lost 0.2 with  Kate, Tim and Joel now on 8.9%. The station was #1 in the 10-17 demographic. 

KIIS 101.1 FM 6.5% (5.6%)

KIIS has reclaimed the fifth spot in the Melbourne commercial radio market after gaining 0.9 points in Survey 4. The station’s cume remains over one million after gaining 96,000.  Breakfast with Jase and Lauren has gained 1.1 points in the daypart, gaining back what it lost in Survey 3 and then some. The station has remained #1 in the 18-24 demographic. 

105.1 Triple M 5.9% (6.0%)

Triple M has slid back down to the #6 commercial radio station in the market despite only losing 0.1 points. The breakfast share for Marty Sheargold remains fairly steady at 5.4. Triple M’s best daypart was 6.6% in the afternoon. 

SEN 2.7% (2.7%)

SEN remains steady at 2.7%. The breakfast share continues to improve, now up to 2.9% and is now the top daypart after drive with Andy Maher lost 0.7. The station’s best demo is now 25-39 with 4.3%. 

3MP 1377 1.2% (1.0%)

3MP has continued where it left off in Survey 3 with another positive result coming in Survey 4.  The station’s best daypart was in the mornings and weekends, with its best demo being 65+.
