JOLT strengthens its Australian senior leadership with a key hire and promotion

Both appointments are effective immediately.

JOLT has bolstered its Australian operations with two senior leadership hires.

Sharnee Rawson joins as Head of Marketing and Communications ANZ and Stuart Moffatt gets promoted to the newly created role of Australian Country Manager.

The appointments come as the fast electric vehicle charging and sustainable digital out-of-home network scales locally while continuing its international expansion into the US, New Zealand, the UK and Canada.

Sharnee Rawson joins from The Guardian

Rawson joins JOLT in a newly created role overseeing national marketing strategy across Australia and New Zealand, with a strong focus on expanding the company’s digital out-of-home and in-app advertising business.

She will work closely with JOLT’s national sales team on go-to-market strategy and advertising briefs, while also supporting engagement with councils and landowners.

Rawson will additionally lead customer-facing marketing for EV charging users.

Rawson brings 15 years’ experience across media, commercial strategy and content, joining from The Guardian where she spent seven years as Head of Commercial Content.

Her previous roles include senior editorial positions at Good Food, delicious, The Courier Mail and Sunday Mail.

JOLT CEO Doug McNamee said the hire reflects the company’s focus on strengthening its Australian capabilities.

“This is an exciting time for our business as we continue to expand our global footprint. The strength of our offering is underpinned by the deep expertise of our people; we are committed to ensuring our Australian team has the specialised knowledge and skill sets required to deliver for our clients and support our long-term growth ambitions,” he said.

“We’re delighted to welcome Sharnee to the business. She brings deep experience in commercialising platforms and building strategies grounded in creative, innovative and audience-led thinking.

“Sharnee has a strong track record of translating insight into compelling advertising solutions, and her ability to connect creativity with commercial outcomes will be instrumental as we continue to scale our digital-out-of-home and in-app advertising offering.”

Rawson said she was drawn to the company’s broader mission and growth trajectory.

“I love everything that JOLT represents, from democratising EV ownership and the focus on renewable energy, to the aggressive global expansion of an Aussie brand.

“JOLT is an incredible local success story, and has such a strong value proposition for advertisers and charger users alike – I am very excited to help tell these stories in the market and to be part of the brand’s new chapter.”

Stuart Moffatt steps into country manager role

In parallel, JOLT has promoted Moffatt from General Manager of Network Growth Australia to Australian Country Manager.

Moffatt, who joined the business in 2023, will now oversee JOLT’s Australian operations, including expansion of its EV charger network and digital out-of-home footprint.

McNamee said Moffatt’s promotion recognises his commercial leadership and operational expertise.

“Our Australian operations are also set to be strengthened by Stuart’s promotion to Country Manager. Since joining JOLT, Stuart has consistently demonstrated strong commercial leadership and an ability to identify and unlock new opportunities and partnerships. His passion for the business, deep operational knowledge and commitment to growth make him ideally placed to lead our Australian team into its next phase.”

Moffatt said the move comes at a pivotal time for the company.

“I’m thrilled to take on the Country Manager role at such a pivotal moment for JOLT, as we continue to expand our EV charging and digital out-of-home footprint across Australia.

“I’ve been inspired by the pace of innovation at JOLT and the opportunity to build something genuinely category-defining. Driven by our Australian team, who are all deeply motivated, highly skilled strategic thinkers and united by a shared passion for the JOLT mission, we’ve already built strong momentum across our network and partnerships.

“This next phase of our growth will continue to deliver powerful outcomes for the environment, communities, our commercial partners and advertisers.”

Backed by global expansion

The leadership changes follow a period of rapid international growth for JOLT.

Late last year, the company expanded into the United States through the acquisition of EV chargers from Shell’s Volta network, delivering thousands of chargers across 64 US cities.

It has also grown its footprint in New Zealand, Wellington, and launched in Canada and the UK.

JOLT’s UK operations were recognised at the 2024 Electric Vehicle Innovation & Excellence Awards, winning Best EV Start-Up of the Year and Best New Services (C&I & Public).
