Harry Garside to run Sydney Marathon as face of Ninja partnership

The Sydney Marathon recently joined the Abbott World Marathon Majors, putting it on the global stage alongside New York, Boston and Tokyo.

Ninja has signed on Harry Garside as brand ambassador ahead of the TCS Sydney Marathon, presented by ASICS, on August 31.

This comes after the appliance brand shook hands on a three-year partnership for the upcoming marathon.

Garside, who will also take on the marathon himself, said: “When I’m looking for ways to improve my training, recovery, or just trying to make better choices every day, I look for things that are powerful, efficient and built with purpose; that’s what I love about Ninja products.

“They’ve got my back through the highs and lows, just like a solid coach or training partner. I’m proud to be running this marathon with their support.”

Ninja will activate across the marathon weekend, including a major presence at the pre-race Running Show, a DJ-powered “You Can Make It” cheer zone on race day, and a Recovery Village to help participants refuel post-run.

The deal adds to Ninja’s roster of sport-led partnerships aimed at engaging athletes and fans.

In June, the Seven Network announced it was the official Australian broadcast media partner of the marathon.

Coverage of the event, which is Australia’s largest marathon, will be seen across Australia live and free on 7mate and on 7plus. Highlights and replays will also be available to stream on 7plus Sport.

Legendary Seven broadcaster Bruce McAvaney OAM will lead the commentary team. He said: “Sydney’s elevation to join the likes of Boston, London and New York in the elite group of Abbott World Marathon Majors is an enormous compliment to our Harbour City.

“It gives Australia the equivalent of a world championship each year, attracting the best globally and inspiring runners at all levels to tackle the ultimate distance.

“For Seven to be involved in the first Sydney Marathon at this level is a great privilege and honour, and it promises to be a magnificent spectacle,” McAvaney added.
