The hire strengthens GumGum’s local leadership bench.

GumGum has appointed former Seven West Media (SWM) Group Business Director Tim Manton as Sales Director for New South Wales and Queensland.

The hire strengthens GumGum’s local leadership bench as agencies and advertisers increasingly shift away from cookie-based targeting toward solutions built around mindset, context and real-world attention.

Based in Sydney, Manton will lead the NSW and QLD sales teams with responsibility for revenue growth, talent development and agency partnerships, while helping translate GumGum’s global strategy into market-specific execution.

A senior hire for a shifting market

Manton arrives with more than 13 years’ experience across the Australian media and advertising ecosystem, spanning video, audio, digital publishing and MarTech.

Most recently, he served as Group Business Director at Seven West Media, where he managed a $200m+ portfolio and drove growth through major omni-channel partnerships.

His career also includes senior roles at Paramount, SCA and Nine, where he built relationships across agency holding groups and independent shops alike.

The appointment comes as GumGum continues to position itself as a contextual-first alternative to traditional identity-based advertising – one designed for a market increasingly constrained by privacy regulation, signal loss and shifting consumer behaviour.

Player-coach approach to scaling teams

In his new role, Manton will focus on growing GumGum’s presence across NSW and QLD by strengthening local teams and deepening agency relationships.

“At GumGum, the opportunity is massive,” Manton said.

“My focus is on backing our high-performing sales teams across New South Wales and Queensland and making sure we’re set up to deliver real value for agency and client partners. I’m a big believer in leading from the front, so I’ll be taking a player-coach approach to ensure our strategy translates into results on the ground as we scale into 2026.”

Manton will work closely with GumGum Australia Managing Director Matt Coote, translating national objectives into local growth across two of the country’s most commercially dense markets.

He will also collaborate with customer success and engineering teams to ensure market insights feed back into product development, while aligning with GumGum’s global leadership to embed its attention and mindset-based approach locally.

A people-first signal from GumGum

Coote said Manton’s mix of commercial leadership and people-first management made him a strong addition as the business continues to expand in Australia.

“Tim brings a strong combination of commercial leadership, deep market experience and a people-first management style,” Coote said.

“His background across major publishers and his collaborative approach make him a great addition to the team as we continue to grow GumGum’s presence in Australia.”

Manton’s initial priorities include scaling the NSW and QLD teams, adopting a “listen-first” approach with agency partners, and replicating proven strategies from GumGum’s other Australian markets.

For GumGum, the hire reflects a broader shift: investing in senior talent not just to sell product, but to help agencies and brands rethink how advertising performs when attention, not identity, becomes the currency.
