Drive - Nick Hey

Hey: “I feel very lucky and supported working in such a nurturing and collaborative environment at Drive”

Drive.com.au has announced the promotion of Nick Hey from senior sales manager to national strategy lead – client services.

Hey has risen through the ranks since starting with the Sydney sales team of the online automotive publisher in 2018.

Hey, who is now based in Melbourne, is the youngest person at Drive to have been promoted to a senior role.

Simon Halfhide, Drive CEO, said: “Nick has played an integral role in our growth as Drive transitions beyond a digital publisher into a media network.

“Since we have consolidated our efforts and focussed on the Drive brand, our growth has exploded. This translates to our audience, our commercial partners, innovative products and our dealer marketplace.”

Hey said of his promotion at the automotive publisher: “I feel very lucky and supported working in such a nurturing and collaborative environment at Drive. The youth development and leadership programmes in place have given me the confidence to turn challenges from brands into creative solutions.

“Age really hasn’t been a barrier for my career progression and I look forward to seeing where this next chapter takes me with the Drive brand.

Carl Davies, Drive media director, said: “Briefs from clients have changed. Our advertisers and their audiences alike are seeking content that makes an impact to their brand in an engaging way. One of Nick’s strengths is delivering pro-active, sophisticated responses across Drive’s multi-platform architecture.”

This comes after Drive announced the appointment of Tim Flattery as the new creative director for the motoring news and reviews website owned by Nine, last year.

Flattery most recently spent the past three years at CarsGuide creating digital series, 3D experiences and videos, and brand-funded journalism for automotive brands. His appointment bolsters what is already the most experienced team of motoring journalists and creatives in Australia.

With an impressive career background that has seen him hold roles at digital publishers, media agencies and broadcast/streaming companies in Sydney, Los Angeles and New York, Flattery has produced multiple brand-funded series for television and digital platforms with a proven track record of convincing chief marketing officers to take leaps in marketing innovation.
