Dentsu CEO of Australia and New Zealand Angela Tangas has been named the CEO of the multinational company’s business in the UK and Ireland.

Tangas will step into the new role in September, while her successor has yet to be announced. She will lead the global agency’s second largest market across media, creative and customer experience management.

The incumbent CEO ANZ first stepped into the role in November 2019. Dentsu International has credited Tangas with turning the business in Australia and New Zealand business over the last 18 months with a “focus on teaming, talent development, diversity and inclusion, underpinned by a strong commitment to social good.”

Tangas will report to CEO of Europe, Middle East and Africa, Giulio Malegori, as part of his EMEA executive team.

Malegori said: “The UK&I is one of the largest and most significant advertising markets in the world and, following a period of intense simplification, the business is accelerating its growth potential.

“In her time at Dentsu ANZ, Angela has proven herself to be a transformational leader with a track record of delivering sustainable business growth for dentsu and supporting positive business outcomes for clients,” he said.

Tangas said: “I strongly believe in the power of teaming– bringing brilliant, diverse minds together to solve the problems of today and pre-empt the opportunities of tomorrow for our people, clients, partners and society.

“The UK market is one of the most innovative in the world with some of the most progressive consumer expectations of brands. The opportunity to lead this team of talented humans partnering with some of the most exciting organisations to unlock a new set of value dynamics, is a very compelling opportunity,” she added.
