About last night – the Media Category Awards night

I must admit, I love a good Awards show, and the Cannes Lions after 70 years knows how to host one of global significance. Considering the number of awards in the various categories (e.g., B2B, Direct, PR, Data, and Media) they move through them quickly while giving the judge president and the Gold and Grand Prix winners their special moment. The quality of work across the board was outstanding, unfortunately, Australia and NZ did not fare as expected however the Media Agency Network of the Year – Mindshare made me super proud after being a purple person for so long.


Yahoo Beach Party:

I am showing my vintage and mainstream music tastes when I did not know whom Deadmau5 was DJing at the Yahoo Beach Party. The crowd went completely off with many souveniring the purple mouse heads emulating the DJ … the bass was pulsating along the Croisette and the Yahoo Party was the place to be.

WOW, what a lineup of 3 incredible brand activations starting with Snapchat celebrating 100 years of storytelling from Disney … magical.

Then a super fun engaging experience with several cool creators at TikTok – a great combination of fashion, recycling fashion, and all things TikTok brought to life on the beautiful garden terrace at the Carton Hotel.

Capped off the brand activations at Pinterest Beach with the Manifestival, once again you could personalise, manifest and make relevant activities on Pinterest. I kept it normal and did not participate in the tattoos or tooth gems etc.

What could be more perfect on a simmering hot day at the Cannes Lions than a free Macca’s McFlurry? 3 rotating flavors and a super cold soft serve… I’m loving it!

The takeout of the day:

With so many brands official or unofficial involved in the Cannes Festival it is sometimes hard to stand out … however, if you do it right it’s just incredibly powerful. The magic of Snapchat and Disney celebrating 100 years was a “must-see” and the bringing to life of your brand personality and activities Pinterest just nailed it.
