Bolster Group has appointed seasoned media executive Jimmy Dau as its new head of media, marking another milestone for the independent entertainment and culture marketing agency as it continues to scale across Australasia and the US.

A strategic hire for a pivotal year

Dau joins Bolster with more than 20 years of experience across agencies and publishers, most recently serving as programmatic growth lead at News Corp Australia.

His career has spanned major agency networks including Carat and Bohemia Group, where as head of investment he played a key role in winning clients such as Kraft Heinz and Australian Retirement Trust.

His appointment comes off the back of a landmark year for Bolster, which celebrated its 10th anniversary and announced a strategic investment from Anthem Group – the holding company behind global consultancy Anthem.

The partnership has set the agency up for an ambitious next chapter, with plans to grow its footprint across Australasia and North America.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jimmy to Bolster Group during this exciting period of growth,” said CEO James Clarke.

“Jimmy possesses a rare skill set encompassing client management, negotiations, ad-tech, and data expertise that perfectly aligns with our entertainment and culture clients’ increasingly sophisticated media needs.”

Culture, connection, and shared experiences

Dau said he was drawn to Bolster’s understanding of the emotional impact of entertainment.

“Research shows that entertainment creates shared cultural moments that bring communities together,” he said. “Rather than just promoting events, Bolster works with brands that craft these collective experiences. Whether it’s a music festival, theatre production, or food and wine celebration, these moments create genuine cultural connection and belonging.”

Bolster’s expanding media credentials are reflected in its growing roster, which includes Melbourne Food & Wine Festival, Melbourne Theatre Company, Perth Festival, and Carriageworks.

The agency employs more than 60 specialists across Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Darwin, servicing clients throughout Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Indonesia, and the US.
