ARIA Charts: Justin Bieber dominates the charts with Justice debut

• This week Glass Animals released a new remix of Heat Waves

Singles

For the fifth week in a row, Heat Waves by UK band Glass Animals sits at the top of the ARIA Singles chart. This week Glass Animals released a new remix of the track, featuring American rapper Iann Dior. Dior was the featured artist on 24kGoldn’s track Mood, which was number one on the Singles chart in November last year.

The highest ranking Australian artist remains Sydney’s The Kid Laroi, with his single Without You, from his album F*ck Love (Savage) in third position. The Kid Laroi also features on one of the new Justin Bieber tracks, Unstable, which debuted at number 22.

The release of Justin Bieber’s Justice has had a significant impact on the singles chart, with the parent album itself hitting the top spot on the Albums chart. Every new entry to the Singles chart this week is from Beiber, with Peaches featuring Daniel Caesar and Giveon the highest rating single from the album at number two.

Other Justice tracks entering the chart are As I Am featuring Khalid at number 23, 2 Much at number 40, and Off My Face at 42.

The release of Justice has also seen two of Bieber’s tracks re-enter the chart – Holy featuring Chance The Rapper at number 21 and Lonely featuring Benny Blanco at 47.

Albums

Justin Bieber’s sixth studio album Justice has had the big debut it was expected to have, landing him his fourth number one album on the ARIA Charts. Justin Bieber has previously hit top spot with the albums My World in May 2010, Believe in June 2012, and Purpose in November 2015.

In second place is Lana Del Rey’s follow up to Norman F**king Rockwell!, releasing her seventh album Chemtrails Over The Country Club. Like its predecessor, this album sees the all-American singer collaborating with prolific producer and songwriter, Jack Antonoff

The highest ranking Australian on the album charts this week is Troy Cassar-Daley with The World Today debuting in third position and taking out his highest charting solo release on the ARIA Albums chart. The World Today also becomes Cassar-Daley’s sixth top ten entry on the Albums chart and sixth number one on the ARIA Country Album chart.

J.T. by Steve Earle & The Dukes debuted at number 49 this week, with Steve Earle paying tribute to his late son Justin Townes Earle by recording an album of songs written by Justin. The release comes less than a year after Justin passed away in August 2020. All proceeds from this release will be put into a trust for Justin’s 3-year-old daughter, Etta.

It’s a big week for Maroon 5, with this week marking the 100th week that their greatest hits album Singles has been in the charts since its release in 2015.

Other new entries to the Album chart this week are Today We’re The Greatest by Middle Kids at number five, Shore by Fleet Foxes at number 13, and Searching For Freedom by Ziggy Alberts at number 27.
