Nine.com.au managing editor Shauna Anderson has stepped down from her role, with sources telling Mediaweek she’s heading to ARN.
If the claims are correct, the move will reunite Anderson with her former boss, Kerri Elstub, who is now Chief Content Officer at the broadcast giant.
Mediaweek has reached out to ARN for comment.
In a LinkedIn post announcing her departure, Anderson described the move as far from easy, writing: “To say this was a difficult decision is an understatement. I genuinely love my job, but more importantly, I love the people.”
From 9Honey to Nine.com.au
Anderson joined the business as editor of 9Honey before stepping into the top editorial role at Nine.com.au.
During her tenure, the site reached an audience of 10.5 million Australians, according to Ipsos data from March 2026 – a milestone she framed as a reflection of the team rather than any one individual.
“As with any newsroom, we’ve had our fair share of challenges thrown at us. However, seeing our hard work culminate in reaching an audience of 10.5 million Australians reflects the passion and skills of the team,” she wrote.
Culture as currency
Beyond scale, Anderson pointed to culture as her defining focus in the role, writing: “As Managing Editor, I strove to foster an environment of respect, inclusivity, and positivity,” adding that “seeing that culture translate into high performance and consistently low staff turnover has been deeply rewarding.”
She also highlighted the next generation of journalists coming through the newsroom, noting: “Watching your growth and development has been my greatest joy.”
Anderson paid tribute to colleagues, including Marc Dodd, calling their time leading the newsroom together an “honour,” and expressed confidence in the ongoing leadership of executive editor Katie Davies.
Anderson went on to confirm she is stepping away to take on “a new opportunity – a challenge that felt too exciting to pass up.”
