Cameron McIntyre has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of REA Group Ltd, with effect from 3 November 2025. He will succeed Owen Wilson, who will retire from full-time executive roles after over six years as CEO and almost 11 years with the company.
McIntyre joins REA from CAR Group Limited, where he served as Managing Director and CEO for nine years. During his tenure, the company expanded significantly, growing from a classified listings business in Australia to a global automotive marketplace giant. In Australia it manages the carsales.com.au brand, along with Encar (South Korea), Trader Interactive (US), and chileautos (Chile). It also holds a majority stake in webmotors (Brazil).
REA Group Chairman Hamish McLennan said the board was “delighted” with the outcome of a global search: “(Cameron’s) proven calibre and unique experience, including a deep understanding of, and success in, a business that has much in common with REA, make him the ideal person to build on REA’s strong momentum and lead its next phase of growth.”,
McIntyre described REA as “an inspiring and iconic business” and highlighted its “market-leading brands, talented team, incredible culture and a lot of growth potential.” He added, “I’m looking forward to working with the Board and the team to continue delivering growing value for REA’s customers… and excellent outcomes for shareholders.”
Wilson will remain as CEO until 31 October to support the leadership transition and will then become Chair of REA India Pte Ltd. McLennan praised Wilson’s contributions, noting that under his leadership, REA transformed from a domestic property listing business into an international and diversified company.
“We are extremely grateful to Owen for his commitment to REA and the significant impact he has had, first as CFO and then as CEO,” McLennan said. “During Owen’s time at REA, the Company has achieved considerable growth and transformed from an Australian property listing business to an international, diversified business, and the renowned culture of REA has gone from strength to strength.”
