Katie Raleigh exits Poem after seven years

Poem - Katie Raleigh

Katie Raleigh: ‘It’s been one heck of a ride.’

Katie Raleigh announced her departure from Poem as its Managing Director after seven and a half years with the creative communications agency.

In a LinkedIn post on Friday, she shared that it the time had come for her to “step away and try something new.”

“It’s been one heck of a ride — and if I knew back then what I know now, I wouldn’t change a thing. (Well… maybe COVID and a few questionable wardrobe choices.)

“I wasn’t convinced I was going to join Poem when Matt Holmes first called about a GAD role, but a few chats later, I was all in — and that’s down to the Poets, past and present.

“There’s truly no other agency like it: the culture, the creative smarts, the Slack chaos, the lols and mems, I’ll miss it all.”

“When I joined, there were ten of us pitching like mad, trying to prove that earned ideas were the future. Fast forward to now: Poem has a content creation arm, a killer social and earned skillset, and one of the best creative PR teams in the country (subjectively speaking I guess! ).

“There are too many moments to list, but starting the Studio arm, working with huge brands from Tourism Australia to Uber, collaborating with passionate clients on a regular (past and present!), reaching Managing Director level and taking home Ad Campaign of the Year last year, were all real pinch-me moments in an otherwise beautifully chaotic industry.”

Raleigh went on to thank Rob Lowe, Director and Co-founder, and Rhania Farah, General Manager, and the Poem team for the send off.

Raleigh’s departure follows the agency recent win of the McCain’s social media account in Australia and New Zealand.

The agency was tasked with managing McCain’s social media channels, creating engaging content, and running product specific campaigns. The agency has already begun working on developing a comprehensive social media strategy for McCain across Australia and New Zealand.

At the time, Raleigh said of the win at the time: “We’re thrilled to partner with McCain, an iconic brand that resonates with so many Aussies and Kiwis. Social media has evolved dramatically, and today, creating ‘social-first’ content that earns attention is paramount.”
