Doctober! Medical magicians flood the small screen as audiences visit surgeries

Good Doctor joins Doctor Foster, Doctor Blake and Doc Martin & Liar’s Doc Earlham

Doctor Blake

Doctors are flooding the small screen and with good results for programmers. ABC has been enjoying its biggest ratings of the year with a Sunday drama double featuring new episodes of Doc Martin and the last season of Doc Blake.

TV Ratings Oct 31: The Good Doctor a hit! Seven’s biggest Tuesday since week 16

Nine doesn’t have any medical miracle at present, but it isn’t long since Doctor Doctor wrapped its second successful season with Rodger Corser as doctor Hugh Knight.

BBC First premiered the second season of Doctor Foster last night and it was the most-watched program on the channel yesterday.

Now Seven has enjoyed two evenings of improved ratings with doctors key to the revival. On Monday night Liar launched with Ioan Gruffudd as doctor Andrew Earlham central to the storyline where co-star Joanne Froggatt as Laura Nielson accuses him of rape.

A fifth medical drama in three nights has now become the highest-rating of all as The Good Doctor has replicated its recent US success for Seven here.
