This eye-opening documentary explores the role that race plays in the world of dating, specifically in the online world, and asks – when looking for love, do racial preferences amount to racism? Presenter Santilla Chingaipe has long suspected her race plays a role in her online dating experience and puts this theory to the test. Testing Teachers follows six passionate individuals in their first year of teaching in what could be the most challenging year of their lives. Kahina Zadi (Leïla Bekhti), a French police officer, travels to Kiruna, a small mining community in remote northern Sweden, to investigate a brutal murder of a French citizen. With the help of Anders Harnesk (Gustaf Hammarsten), a Swedish DA and a member of the Sami, an ancient, mysterious indigenous tribe of Scandinavia, they are faced with new killings and the initial murder turns out to be the tip of the iceberg. Kahina and Anders come to realize that behind the killings is a ten-year-old secret conspiracy involving many of the town’s inhabitants. Kahina finds herself confronting a ruthless serial killer, always one step ahead, a macabre plan, and her own painful past.

The series follows former British soldier Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston) who is recruited by intelligence operative Angela Burr (Olivia Colman) to infiltrate the inner circle of international businessman Richard Onslow Roper (Hugh Laurie) and detonate the unholy alliance he has ministered between the intelligence community and the secret arms trade.

Fargo (Season 3)

Bosch (Season 3)

Based on Michael Connelly’s internationally best-selling book franchise the US crime drama Bosch will return to SBS for a second season in 2016. Set in Los Angeles, California, Bosch stars Hollywood veteran, Titus Welliver (Sons of Anarchy, The Good Wife) as LAPD homicide detective Hieronymus ‘Harry’ Bosch, a relentless detective who will stop at nothing to bring justice to victims.

Great Railway Journeys with Michael Portillo (Season 5)

Michael Portillo embarks on a new series of railway journeys across Europe. Armed with his 1913 Bradshaw’s Guide, he will travel from station to station, visiting the towns and villages described by the Guide, following the suggested itineraries, staying in the recommended hotels, exploring the sights, sampling local traditions while telling the story of what was happening in continental Europe in 1913. From Rotterdam to Utrecht, to Transylvania to the Black Sea, join Michael as he discovers the history, people and culture behind these famous train journeys.

Chris Tarrant: Extreme Railways (Season 3)

TX: 2017 on SBS

Chris Tarrant returns for more train journeys through some of the world’s most challenging terrain. He heads to the Arctic for a trip along the Alaska Railroad, but as he arrives in the port of Seward, it’s not a great start as there are no trains running, so he ends up hitching a ride with a track inspector’s car. He continues his journey on a freight train heading for Anchorage, Alaska’s biggest city, and finally heads north on the Aurora passenger train to the town of Healy. Along the way he checks out the tiny village of Eklutna, which has great importance for the indigenous inhabitants, and goes for an intrepid fishing trip on a thawing frozen lake.

SPORT ON SBS CYCLING

Paris-Roubaix

SBS will have live coverage of the 114th edition of the Paris-Roubaix Championships in France. Famous for its challenging and treacherous cobblestone sections, the Paris-Roubaix is regarded as the toughest of the Classics on the European cycling calendar. Joining the competition will be Aussie Matthew Hayman, who won the biggest one-day race in World Cycling in 2016 will also compete.

Tour de France

TX: July 2017
All the drama and triumph of the world’s most famous cycling race returns for its 27th year on SBS.

SBS’s live multiplatform coverage will be led by SBS’s cycling host Mike Tomalaris, with reporting by David McKenzie and Matthew Keenan, Robbie McEwan, Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen in the commentary team.

La Vuelta

TX: August 2017

The 2017 Vuelta a España is a three-week Grand Tour cycling stage race that is scheduled to take place in Spain between 19 August and 10 September 2017 for its 72nd edition. Leaving from the French city of Nîmes on Saturday, 19 August, this is to be the third time in history the Vuelta starts on foreign soil.

In 2017, SBS will continue to deliver premium international football matches with the 2016/17 and 2017/18 UEFA Champions League. Audiences will also get to cheer the green and gold with Socceroos world cup qualifiers, and of course, to wrap it all up for football lovers, SBS’s flagship football program The World Game, with SBS football experts Craig Foster, David Zdrilic and Lucy Zelic.

Premier League

TX: Continues in 2017

The Premier League continues on the home of international football on SBS in 2017. SBS’s live coverage of the Premier League is hosted by SBS’s Lucy Zelic, SBS chief football analyst and former Crystal Palace player, Craig Foster plus former Premier League star, Michael Bridges. SBS will continue to show one live match each week across SBS and SBS HD, along with weekly highlights on The World Game, Mondays at 11.00pm on SBS and SBS HD.

UEFA Champions League

TX: Continues in 2017

The UEFA Champions League is the most prestigious football competition in Europe. SBS has been the proud broadcast partner of the UEFA Champions League since its inception in 1992 and in 2017, and will continue to show one live match on Wednesdays and a weekly one hour highlights show on Thursday nights that will cover all the matches from every round.

2017 FIFA Confederations Cup

TX: June 2017

As a prelude to the 2018 FIFA World Cup, SBS will show matches from the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, which will be held in Russia. Kicking off on 17 June, SBS will show all Socceroos’ matches plus the semis and the final.

MOTOR RACING 2017 Dakar Rally TX: January 2017

2017 With the addition of Paraguay, the Dakar will visit the 29th country in its history, the 5th on the South American continent. Then the rally will head for its longest stay so far in Bolivia and more specifically the capital city of La Paz. Argentina, which has been a part of every edition since 2009, will be the theatre for the final battle decided in Buenos Aires. Australian winner of the 2016 Motorbike Class, Toby Price, will seek to defend his title.
